Fred Factory Winners

Before I get to the review, I want to remind you to see the inBubbleWrap NEWS section tomorrow, or check your daily email notification for another chance at 50%. Oh and today, I'm raising your odds by giving away 50 copies.

Hey Fred! Yeah, I'm talking to you inBubbleReaders. You may not think your name is Fred. But I've done my research, searched your blogs, emailed with some of you, even checked out some of your businesses, and sure enough, your collective name is Fred. Your momsies and pappies may have named you Phil or Thom or Soni or Donna, but Mark Sanborn, author of The Fred Factor, has metaphorically renamed you Fred.

In the Fred Factor, Sanborn recounts the true story of Fred (never has Fred been written so many times in a little over a paragraph), the mail carrier who passionately loves his job and who genuinely cares about the people he serves. Because of that, he is constantly going the extra mile handling the mail--and sometimes watching over the houses--of the people on his route, treating everyone he meets as a friend. Rather than seeing his job as monotonous drudgery, Fred sees an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those he serves.

You see, this is why I call you Fred. You do this too.

You all, I'm sure have known a Fred. I feel cheated because my Fred was also a mail carrier, but his name was Cory. If I was having a bad morning, I literally scheduled my lunch break (as opposed to metaphorically scheduling my lunch break) around being home when the mail came. All it took were a few sentences or questions or comments from Cory, and BAM, the afternoon started with a smile. But it wasn't just me. It was like a Leave it to Beaver (without the staunch..uh..whiteness and oh golly goshes) neighborhood setting. You'd look down the street and see households of people sitting on their porches, waiting for their turn to encounter the inspirational, and rather goofy, laugh of Cory the mailman....OUR mailman....our friend.

Mark Sanborn, however, doesn't just tell a tidy little tale about a man name Fred. The purpose of the book is to tell you how you can easily become Fred -- a passionate person with the power to build strong relationships and create value FOR OTHERS without dropping a dime, spending a penny. Mark gives you four basic principles that will help you become more energetic and creative, allowing you to make a REAL difference every single day.

You see? You are Fred. Make yourselves better Freds by reading about Fred in the book that tells Fred's story, Fred Factor. Fred..Fred...Fred......

An Aside:

I won't normally do this, but I think I work on the other side of the wall of a workplace that embodies the spirit of Fred - 800-CEO-READ. I'm not just plugging friends here either. I don't even like these people. It's not like we talk to each other....all day long, or all get together to eat cheap but delicious (hypothetically, of course) Mexican food on paper plates. It's not like we, uh, schedule bowling parties or summer croquet tournaments and food fests at the president's house. And I certainly don't call two of them brother or anything. Nope, I don't personally have any like for, or connection to, these people. They simply go the extra mile, care if 250 books show up at the same place at the same time, tell you some jokes (sometimes inappropriate in Roy's case), oh and get this....THEY ANSWER THEIR PHONES. They just consistently and collectively add up to Fred.
